Walking for a cause

More than 1,000 Hendricken students and faculty completed a 10K walk along Warwick Avenue and West Shore Road last Thursday as the school’s annual Hunger Walk. Organized by campus ministry office and director, Thomas Gambardella, funds raised go to different social and religious agencies in the state and city. Held Holy Thursday, the event started with a prayer service and includes a “soup and cracker” lunch to make the students more aware of what it’s like to go hungry. At left is school president John Jackson who has been doing the walk since he was a Hendricken student. The walk was started in 1974.
