Walkthrough of new Potowomut fire station set Sunday

Posted

Mayor Scott Avedisian, Fire Chief Edmund Armstrong, Assistant Chiefs James McLaughlin and Bruce Cooley and Councilman Steven Merolla will host a public walkthrough of the new fire station, 225 Potowomut Road, for residents and neighbors this Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

Station 10, which sits on the site of the former Potowomut Elementary School, will serve the Bay Ridge and Potowomut neighborhoods. The new facility includes a two-bay fire station, a community room and a police substation. New recreational playing fields were added and the existing playground was preserved for the neighborhood’s continued use.

The 9,000-square-foot, $2.6 million project, will house Fire Engine 10 and a 12-person staff.

Ahlborg Construction Corporation won the construction bid, and Saccoccio and Associates were the architects for the project.

Light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the tour.
