SHATTERED WINDSHIELD

On June 12 at 4:31 p.m., Officer Kevin McGuire was dispatched to the Wal-Mart located at 650 Bald Hill Road for a report of a vandalism.

Upon arrival, McGuire met with a woman, who is the owner of a silver Toyota Corolla. She said her vehicle broke down in the Wal-Mart parking lot on June 9 and was left there unattended until June 12, when she responded back to her vehicle at 4 p.m. She said she discovered the driver’s side of the windshield was smashed, with multiple dents in the hood.

McGuire said he observed large gouge marks in the hood of the vehicle and a significantly smashed windshield, where there seemed to be two points of impact. The woman said she has no known enemies and had no idea who could have committed the vandalism.

McGuire met with a Wal-Mart loss prevention officer to review surveillance footage, but the vehicle was parked too far away from the store to obtain surveillance of what had occurred. A report was taken to document the incident and the woman was advised to contact her insurance company regarding the damages.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

On June 10 at 9:11 a.m., Officer Stephen Major, along with Sergeant Valkoun, was dispatched to the Cumberland Farms at 1556 Post Road in reference to a stolen motor vehicle.

Upon arrival, Major met with the victim, who said his black 2016 Honda Accord was stolen from the front of Cumberland Farms. The man said he had gone inside to purchase some refreshments and had left his vehicle running with the keys in it. Someone then entered the vehicle and fled the scene.

Valkoun reviewed the video footage, but it generated no suspect data. The vehicle was entered as stolen into RILETS and NCIC.

On June 12 at 8:49 p.m., Officers Timothy Kenyon and Lancaster were dispatched to Airport Road for the report of an auto theft in progress. Dispatch advised that the vehicle was a silver Honda Accord bearing R.I. registration. Officers checked the area with negative results.

Upon arrival, Kenyon spoke with the reporting party, who said he arrived at Speedway on Airport Road and parked his vehicle in the fire lane near the ice chest, left it unlocked and running with the keys inside, and entered the store. When he came back out, the vehicle was missing. He said the vehicle is in stock condition with minor damage to the rear bumper and the front license plate was hanging off.

The man said the vehicle belongs to him and his wife and is registered to his wife. He wished to pursue a criminal complaint. Kenyon contacted the man’s wife, who also wished to pursue a criminal complaint.

The clerk at Speedway said he did not have access to the video surveillance system at the time, but that someone else would be able to access it on June 13. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen and the report was forwarded to detectives for further investigation.

Upon arrival, Thompson met with the victim and owner of the residence, who said at approximately 10:50 p.m., he shut off the light outside, including his landscaping lights, and went to bed. When he awoke and looked outside around 8:15 the next morning, he discovered one of the landscaping lights had been torn up and stolen.

Thompson said a small patch of landscaping had been ripped up due to the light being pulled out and the wire being pulled. It appears the wire had been cut from the light, which is valued at approximately $50. No witnesses or suspects.
