Hawks win Capital City Classic

The Hendricken wrestling team captured its second consecutive Capital City Classic title this past weekend, which is held in Concord, N.H.

The Hawks won the championship in a landslide, totaling a team score of 271.5. The second place team was Noble High School from North Berwick, Maine, who compiled a score of 199.

The tournament consisted of 17 different teams, many on which were from the host state of New Hampshire.

But among the large number of teams, Hendricken shined the brightest, as nine of its wrestlers were able to either win or place as the runner-up in their respective weight classes.

Anthony DiMauro, Jimmie Sauro and Dylan DiSano all won their weight classes, while Nick Celico, Matt Jacobsen, John Arruda, Stevie Johnson, Nick Martino and Zack O’Connor all finished as runner-ups in their weight classes.

The Hawks currently sit at 10-0 in Division I in their dual meet season. They’ll match-up against La Salle on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., before hosting Cranston West on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Hendricken will then host the only other unbeaten team in D-I, Cumberland, next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
