The 20th season of partnership between the National Softball Association and the City of Warwick made for another banner year for adult softball in Warwick. Between all the summer and fall leagues, more than 1,600 games were played in the city, with an additional 150 games in tournament action. Warwick also hosted its seventh regional World Series this year, and local teams traveled to Indiana and Nevada for national competitions.

In addition to success on the field, leagues and teams combined to raise close to $15,000 for local charities and collected 906 pounds of food for the West Bay Food Pantry. In the last four years, roughly $50,000 and 2,500 pounds of food have been donated.

Bob Berard, the local director, would like to thank the parks and recreation department for its work in keeping the fields in top shape.

Champions were crowned in several leagues over the past few weeks. Bella’s Sports Bar won the Co-Ed championship, while Martinelli & Caputi captured the Night League title. Four Sunday league championships were also decided. Pedro’s won its third straight championship top-level Michael Finnegan Division in both the summer and fall seasons. Olympic Health & Nutrition won the George Schmeider Division. The Jokers captured the title in the Bob Mernick Division. And Elite Painting won the James Rison Division. (Submitted photos.)
