The body of a Warwick man who drowned in Narragansett Bay off Patience Island Saturday night has been turned over to the Medical Examiner’s office. According to Gail Mastrati, of the Department of Environmental Management (DEM), David Hall, 57, of Warwick, was recovered off the island’s north side after DEM officers got a call about the accident around 11 p.m.
The DEM said several agencies sent personnel in response but it was the Warwick Fire Department who found Hall and pronounced him dead at the scene. They said it appeared he fell off the 24-foot boat that was anchored off the north end of the island. Warwick Police, who are customarily briefed about similar incidents, have yet to have all the details. Citing a preliminary report about the initial call, Warwick Police said Hall’s wife, whose name was not released, was taken ashore for medical evaluation.
DEM expects to have a more comprehensive account of the mishap within the next week, after the Medical Examiner’s report.
