A Warwick man was killed in a single-vehicle crash earlier this week, according to police.
John Bert, 76, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital after emergency personnel responded to the scene on Monday afternoon. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
In a statement, police said the crash occurred in the area of 125 Warwick Neck Ave. shortly after 4 p.m. Bert’s vehicle was traveling south when it struck a series of boulders on the roadway’s shoulder. He was the sole occupant.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that alcohol and speed were not factors,” the statement reads. “There is a possibility of underlying medical issues being a factor.”
The crash remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Capt. Brad Connor or Sgt. John Kelly in the Traffic Division at 401-468-4344.
