Toll Gate finished ninth in Division II, while Pilgrim finished sixth with eight top-three finishes in Division III at the class swimming championships held this weekend at Roger Williams University.
In Saturday’s D-II meet, the Titans were led by senior Mikayla Rogers, who placed fifth in the 500 freestyle in 5:40.61 and sixth in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.57. Fellow senior Stephanie Hager also scored for the Titans, taking 11th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.35 and 13th in the 500 free in 6:50.24. Rogers and Hager also swam on the eighth-place 200 medley relay, along with Maddy Hayes and Laura Hopkins, as well as the ninth-place 400 free relay with Hayes and Hopkins.
The Titans had eight other swimmers competing in two events. Rachel Euell took 20th in the 500 free and 22nd in the 200 free; Meg Gilbar finished 24th in the 500 free and 30th in the 200 free; Amanda Wilks finished 21st in the 200 free and 29th in the 100 back; Victoria Nelson grabbed 32nd in the 200 free and 34th in the 100 free; Abby Tillotson finished 27th in the 50 free and 33rd in the 100 free; Lindsey Russell finished 26th in the 100 breast and 30th in the 50 free; Alexis Laboy took 34th in the 50 free and 35th in the 100 free; and Breana Coleman took 27th in the 100 breast and 32nd in the 100 free.
Also for the Titans, Hopkins finished 19th in the 100 backstroke, with Hayes in 22nd and Kasey Moorehead in 30th. Abby Lewis added a 21st-place finish in the 100 fly and Stephanie Pham finished 33rd in the 50 free.
Pats shine in D-III
On Sunday, Pilgrim and Warwick Vets took part in the Division III championships. Pilgrim finished sixth while Warwick Vets was 10th.
The Pats had six individuals place top-three, as well as two relays. Senior Abby Slater led the charge with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:16.60 and another second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:23.01.
Senior Taylor Ryan and sophomore Sophia Caracuzzo also placed in two individual events. Ryan took third in the 200 IM in 2:36.69 and third in the 100 fly in 1:12.75. Caracuzzo finished second in the 100 fly in 1:11.49 and third in the 500 free in 6:20.49.
Slater, Ryan and Caracuzzo also teamed with Mackenzie Caron for second in the 200 medley relay and second in the 400 freestyle relay. Caron scored in two individual events as well, taking 11th in the 100 breast and 12th in the 100 free
Also for the Patriots, Casey Adams placed 13th in the 500 free and 17th in the 100 fly; Drisanna Watson took 17th in the 200 IM and 24th in the 50 free; Jazeon Johnson finished 22nd in the 100 back and 31st in the 100 free; Nicole Gauthier finished 21st in the 50 free and Jazmin Tuscani finished 33rd in the 50 free.
Warwick Vets had two scoring finishes, with junior Phone Htoo netting both. Htoo swam to an impressive third-place finish in the 100 breast in a time of 1:27.42 and also took 11th in the 50 free. Rhianna Bellows added a 28th in the 50 free and Laura Paulin finished 31st in the 50 free.
