A visit to the Warwick Public Library on Saturday found Melissa Krueger, Kris Howe, Rebecca Dorrie and Sandy Hart intent on their cross stitches. The quartet is by no means restricted other than they share a common interest in stitching and enjoy each other’s company. “We like to hang out and it’s a good way to start the weekend,” says Hart. Hart, who describes stitch work “as science and luck,” says she’ll improvise on a pattern “depending on how many mistakes I make.” The group has been meeting every Saturday at the library from 9 until noon since last fall, which they said offers the good lighting required to do such detail work. But every so often, each confesses to messing up, only they don’t refer to it as that. “You hear us say ‘that was a frog stitch,’” said Hart. And when that happens they rip it out and start over again.
