Wave Credit Union drive collects school supplies for Family Shelter

Posted

During August, Wave Federal Credit Union sponsored a Back to School Drive at its offices. The drive collected more than $350 in school supplies and financial support to help send kids from the Rhode Island Family Shelter back to school “equipped.”

Tables were set up at each Wave office where supplies were dropped off during regular Credit Union hours. In addition, there were collection boxes to encourage financial contributions.

The Family Shelter is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week shelter for homeless families. It is the only temporary emergency family shelter of its kind in the Kent County area. Approximately 300 individuals per year receive shelter and over half are children.

Founded in 1938 as Narragansett Electric Employees Federal Credit Union, Wave Federal Credit Union has offices in Warwick and Westerly, assets in excess of $114 million and over 8,500 members. Under its community charter, the Credit Union serves individuals and businesses located in Providence, Warwick, Pawtucket, Cranston, East Greenwich, North Kings-town, South Kings-town, West Greenwich, West Warwick, Westerly, Charles-town and Coventry.
