We must restore our values

To the Editor:

Martin Luther King once said, “The Constitution and Declaration of Independence together form the great ‘Wells’ of democracy that express the most sacred values in our Judeo-Christian heritage.” But today, our country is surely lacking reference to the values of our Judeo-Christian heritage. Our forefathers shared a common belief that religion did not matter – not only for the private welfare of each citizen, but also for the welfare of the nation.

Without morals, a nation, like ours will not last. “We the People” – are undermining the solid foundation of morals and values, the best security for the survival of our nation.

Hence, our future will depend on today, on the choices each citizen will make. And that means rediscovering the basic religious morals and values that our country was founded on. And only through our witness to our beliefs, and by God’s grace and protection, can we restore our “lost national soul!”
