To the Editor:
In regard to the June 16 letter from Robin Taylor, “ISIS or Mental illness,” I wish to remind Robin that although it was a gay community targeted, this young man had strongly vowed his allegiance to ISIS, had mocked, laughed at, mimicked the planes crashing as 9/11 was taking place, and in Orlando his last words were allegiance to ISIS. If liberals would use one minute of common sense (liberals includes our president and Hillary), they would realize that is precisely why “Radical Islam” should be used.
I believe, as the majority of our country does, that of course most Muslims are decent, good people. However, we must recognize a false ideology of the Muslim religion in the form of ISIS if we are to eradicate the growing group of fanatics that persecute other Muslim, Christians, women, children, gays, lesbians, etc. They are people who behead, shoot, cage and throw gays off rooftops all in the name of Allah. Our president had no trouble at the National Day of Prayer pointing out the atrocities of the Crusades in the name of Jesus, yet he refuses to recognize ISIS as doing atrocities in what they believe is in the name of Allah.
So, yes, let us not “fall into the trap of painting all Muslims with a broad brush” (President Obama’s words, not mine); let us recognize the radicals filtering into the Muslim community, as doing it in the name of a false ideology. We need to work with the Muslim communities of decent Muslims, to weed out the extremists in their religion. Once we recognize the common denominator, Radical Islam, then and only then can we work together on a solution.
