Weekly curbside collection of yard waste began the week of March 23 and will continue on a weekly basis until October 5, after which collection switches to a bi-weekly schedule through mid-December. Yard waste is collected on the same day that one’s trash and recycling are picked up.
The yard waste collection program began in 1993. Grass, leaves, brush and garden debris must be placed in 30-gallon biodegradable paper yard waste bags or in 32-gallon or smaller barrels. Please remove all dirt and rocks. Yard waste bags are available at many local retailers.
Branches must be tied in bundles four feet in length and placed next to bags or barrels. Branch bundles should be no larger than eight inches in diameter.
Mayor Scott Avedisian noted that the compost facility is also now open to Warwick residents Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“The curbside collection offers our residents a convenient way to dispose of yard waste and has been a popular program since its inception,” Avedisian said. “It’s an important component of our wide-ranging recycling efforts, and we are pleased to offer this service to our residents year after year.”
