West Side 9/10's earn spot in District 3 title game

The Warwick West Side 10-year-old all-star team took the long road, but it moved within a game of the District 3 championship thanks to a big inning Sunday night.

Needing to beat East Greenwich – which came out of the winner’s bracket – twice to claim the title, West Side got the first win out of the way 17-7 after scoring 10 times in the sixth inning.

West Side had lost to East Greenwich 11-2 last Monday in the winner’s bracket final, dropping it to the loser’s bracket final against Exeter-West Greenwich on Friday. West Side took care of business in that game, winning 13-3 to get another crack at East Greenwich.

East Greenwich and West Side were scheduled to play one final time to decide the district championship, Monday night at West Side, with the results unavailable at press time. The winner of that game will advance to the state tournament.
