West Side 9/10’s fall just shy of district crown

Posted

The Warwick West Side 9/10-year-old all-star baseball team brought itself to the verge of a District 3 championship, but it came up just short on Monday night. Playing East Greenwich in a winner-take-all final, West Side lost 13-4 to end its summer. It was quite a run for West Side, which lost to East Greenwich last Monday in the winner’s bracket final 11-2, but rebounded admirably. West Side first beat Exeter-West Greenwich 13-3 on Friday in the loser’s bracket final, and it then avenged its earlier loss to East Greenwich with a 17-7 win. West Side scored 10 runs in the seventh inning in that game to break it open. That victory set up the final game Monday, but East Greenwich was able to come out ahead and advance to the state tournament
