An estimated 700 motorcycles showed up for Saturday’s 16th Annual Special Olympics Motorcycle Run sponsored by the founding Johnston Police Department and hosted by Metro Collision Center in Johnston. For three hours late Saturday afternoon, more than 1,000 people enjoyed music, refreshments and fun under a sparkling sun in Johnston, and many of those folks mounted their classy and colorful bikes and led Metro Collision Center for the annual trek to the University of Rhode Island’s Kingston Campus, where the actual Olympic Games were held. By night’s end, this year’s motorcycle run that was coordinated by Johnston Police Major Joseph Razza and Capt. Thomas Dolan raised approximately $20,000 for Special Olympics Rhode Island.
