Where have all the flowers gone?

Pawtuxet residents were distressed to discover Saturday morning that the plastic containers in planters on the bridge were missing along with their colorful floral displays. Area residents were awoken after 2 a.m. Saturday and Cranston Police were alerted to a group of rowdy people on the bridge. On the Warwick side, Chris Hannifan said a commotion in Pawtuxet Park awoke her at about 2:30. She called police, who she said responded, flashing a search light through the park. After they left, she said she saw people running to cars. Residents hope to raise enough funds to replace the planters with mums in time for the fall season. Donation boxes will be available in village stores. Yesterday, Robert Perez tried his luck fishing from the bridge. He hauled in a couple of snapper blues, but no planters that were presumably tossed over the bridge.
