As part of the wetlands mitigation work being done related to the extension of the safety zone to the crosswind runway, the culvert crossing of the upper stretch on Buckeye Brook at Lakeshore Drive is being replaced by the Rhode Island Airport Corporation. Traffic is limited to a single lane during construction. Restoration of wetlands north of the culvert is also being done. Both projects are to be completed by Sept. 15 according to a RIAC spokeswoman.
