Wilfred J. Ogden, age 89, formerly of Warwick, died on March 16, 2013 at Charlesgate Nursing Center in Providence. He was the husband of the late Lois A. (Smith) Ogden and the late Thelma M. (Oates) Ogden.
Born in Pawtucket, the son of the late John W. and Mildred A. (Calverley) Ogden, he lived in Warwick for most of his life. He was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Mr. Ogden was employed at Federal Products in Providence for 38 years, retiring as manager of manufacturing in 1985. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in mechanical engineering, he was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was an elder and long-time member of the Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian in Warwick.
He is survived by two daughters, Bethany C. Ogden-Mongeon of North Smithfield and Diane A. Ogden-Goebel of Key West, Florida; a grandson, Norbert H. Mongeon, III; a sister, Constance B. Taylor of Warwick; and a step-daughter, Nancy E. Peace of Newbury Port, Massachusetts. He was the brother of the late Phyllis W. Durkin; and the step-father of the late Theodore I. Peace.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 11 a.m. in Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian, 58 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Burial will be in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, RI Chapter.
