William “Bill” Cowles Brainard

William “Bill” Cowles Brainard of Warwick died on March 26, 2016, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Christina.

Bill graduated from Loomis in Connecticut, attended Lehigh University in the engineering program before entering the Officers’ Candidate School of the US Air Force, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He flew F86 Sabre Jets during peacetime and was a squadron commander at Nellis AFB Nevada. He and Christina owned an antique and collectable business in Saddle River, N.J. where they resided, and from where they retired. In 2009 they moved to Warwick. Bill was a Deacon Emeritus at Spring Green Memorial Church in Warwick where he was active prior to his illness.

He is also survived by his daughter, Kristin Dexter, grandson Alexander Dexter, and son-in-law Scott Dexter all of Warwick. He leaves his brother, Chandler Brainard of California and his daughter, Laura Bevis Wilson, grandson Matthew Wilson, and son-in-law Danny Wilson of North Carolina. He leaves a sister-in-law Robin Jones of New York and a dear family friend Gilbert Greigo also of California.

A Memorial Service will be held at Spring Green Memorial Church, 1350 Warwick Avenue, in Warwick on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
