William C. Greco, 87 of La Jolla, California died peacefully in his sleep on September 15, 2013.

William was born in Providence, Rhode Island and lived there for 60 years before retiring from the State Department of Education and moving to San Diego. “Bill” and his 6 brothers all served in World War II as his mother proudly flew a 7 star flag out her window during wartime. Bill served on a Destroyer and was on the invasions of Normandy, Sicily and many other sea battles.

Bill married his first wife June (Sullivan) in September of 1948.They resided in Warwick and were together until her passing in 1982. Bill re-married in 1989 to Kay (Muccillo) Greco of La Jolla whom he shared the rest of his life with. Bill was a parishioner of All Hallows Catholic Church in La Jolla. Bill loved playing bocce ball in his backyard at family gatherings and cooking his famous meatballs. Bill loved boxing & football and he never missed the “Friday Night Fights”. Bill was a blood donor and gave blood monthly to help his fellow man. Bill loved children, animals of all kinds, driving fast, casinos, playing gin, drinking gin and spending time with his family. Bill loved the simple things in life and was a dedicated and hard worker from the greatest generation. Bill taught his family many things that we will cherish forever. His love, humor, wittiness, and the twinkle in his eyes will never be forgotten.

Bill is survived by his wife; his children: Karen Ceccofiglio of Florida, Bill Greco, Jr. of Virginia. Also his step-children: Tanya Withouski of San Diego and Cynthia Thomas of Utah; and many grandchildren; daughters-in-law, sons-in-laws; nieces and nephews. Bill is also survived by two brothers, Earl of Rhode Island and Joseph of Florida.
