William M. Callanan

William M. Callanan, 85, formerly of Church Avenue, Warwick passed away August 25, 2013 at Brentwood Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of Mary M. (DuBois) Callanan.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Francis and Emily (Devine) Callanan. Mr. Callanan was an Electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local 99 until his retirement. He served in The United States Army during World War II. An avid swimmer, he participated in the Save The Bay Swim twelve times. He also restored Volkswagen campers and was a former member of the Elks.

He was the loving father of Paul F. Callanan of Lafayette, Colorado, Therese M. Callanan of Providence, Jeannine M. Callanan of Warwick and the late William M. Callanan, Jr. Cherished grandfather of Ian, Tyler, Ryan and Christopher. Caring brother of Joseph Callanan, Rita Trenn and Patricia Cotter, all of North Kingstown and the late Andrew, Thomas and Sr. Frances Callanan, F.M.M.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours respectfully omitted.
