William O. “Bill” Ashness, age 54, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2012, surrounded by his family and compassionate caregivers at The Miriam Hospital.
Born in Providence, a son of Mary A. “Anna” (Bussey) Ashness of Warwick and the late William Ashness, Jr., he grew up in Warwick, and lived in Pawtucket for the last 25 years. Bill was employed as a computer analyst with Infor Global in East Greenwich for many years. Known for his kind and gentle manner, he was always optimistic. He demonstrated this attitude during his 10 years of treatment for leukemia. His determination, courage, and selfless decisions to further leukemia research will always be admired.
Besides his mother, he leaves a brother, Gary T. Ashness and his wife, Deborah of Warwick; two sisters, Lori A. Ashness, of Cranston and Tammy R. Allaire and her husband, David, of East Greenwich; and his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Gary Jr., Christopher, Paul, Abigail, Lauren, Benjamin, and Isabella.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Spring Green, Warwick. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
