Actually, to be more accurate, electrical wiring at the Tidewater Drive Bridge over Buckeye Brook was “de-energized” Thursday by National Grid crews. While the wires remain, they have been isolated from the rest of the system, thereby removing any chance of an accident if touched when a crane is used to lift guiders for the decking of the new bridge. Customers on both sides of the bridge did not lose power during the process. While Cardi Construction had hoped to work throughout the winter on the $1.2 million bridge replacement project, this winter’s abundance of snow and low temperatures have made that impossible. Nonetheless, says DPW Director David Picozzi, he expects the bridge to be completed on schedule in June.
