Posted

To commemorate Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March, The Center for Women’s Gastrointestinal Health at Women & Infants’ Hospital of Rhode Island, in association with the Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island and the American Cancer Society, will host an education and awareness event Saturday, March 8, from noon to 3 p.m. at Warwick Mall.

The day offers a chance to walk through the 12-foot long, 10-foot high Strollin’ Colon three-dimensional exhibit; have a free colorectal cancer risk assessment with Drs. Christy Dibble, Mariam Fayek or Nenna Okpara of the Center for Women’s Gastrointestinal Health and enter to win a free raffle

The Center for Women’s Gastrointestinal Health is the only center of its kind in the area staffed exclusively by women for women accepting new patients. For more information or to make an appointment, call 453-7953.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in American men and women, with more than 140,000 new cases expected to be diagnosed this year alone.
