WonderKids: Now accepting summer and fall enrollments

Joyful laughter fills the room as a parade of pre-schoolers file outside into the sunlight and on to the well-equipped playground. In a quiet corner, a sleepy infant is gently rocked in the arms of “Nurse Molly”. Meanwhile, an excited group of bright-eyed toddlers hover over a bucket of ears and noses that will soon adorn the face of a Mr. Potato Head. It’s just another day here for these children, and for the many more who come to this busy child care center every day. This is a place of learning, discovery, safety, comfort and purposeful play. This is WonderKids Early Childhood & Enrichment Center in Warwick.

WonderKids is the lifelong passion of its director and founder Mary Lou Reynolds. Reynolds opened WonderKids back in 1988 and now, 26 years later, she stills finds delight in welcoming her many children every day. Mary Lou warmly greets each child by name as they enter this cheerful, colorful and sun-bathed center ~ in fact, many of the children have parents have known her since they attended WonderKids themselves a generation ago.

Serving children ages six weeks through five years, WonderKids is open five days a week from 6:15 am until 6:00 pm, every week of the year. Reynolds knows that her parents depend on child care, even when schools close for a day. This is just part of her commitment to the families who rely on her to deliver loving, secure and healthy care to their children. Every step is taken to ensure the safety and well-being of your child. There is even an AirSource® purifier in every room that eliminates 97.7% of the contaminants that make little bodies sick. All of the workers are also CPR and First-aid certified to keep your child safe while they are away from you.

While WonderKids focuses on all the things that make childhood “wonderful”, this is also a place that implements the RI Early Learning & Developmental Standards, right down to the infant and toddler ages. Each area of the center is designed with specific centers that target skills from the curriculum goals of the RIELDS, including Literacy, Math and Science. WonderKids teacher “Miss Kathy”, who holds a Master’s degree, has taught preschoolers here with her boundless energy for over fifteen years. Director Reynolds also brings in educational, entertaining and community- minded visitors to thrill the children and supplement the curriculum. Learning here is fun, age-appropriate and success-oriented.

WonderKids builds lasting partnerships with their parents as they nurture the growth and development of their children through responsive caregiving and focused learning opportunities.

For more information or to tour WonderKids, visit their informative website at www.myfavoritechildcare.com or call Mary Lou at 401-714-4945. WonderKids is located at 73 Alhambra Road, just off Post Road. Full and part-time hours are available, and deep discounts are offered to all fire, police and military personnel.
