Ward 4 poll workers welcomed Joe Solomon and his wife, Cindy, during Tuesday’s presidential primary. They knew the Ward 4 councilman, yet, as now required, asked to see his identification. The Solomons were among the first 60 to vote at the polling location even though they didn’t turn out until after noon. Donna MacDonald at the Board of Canvassers reported that 1,793 voters of the city’s 60,633 registered voters cast ballots in the primary. On the Republican ticket, Mitt Romney was the city’s big winner with 808 votes to Ron Paul who placed second with 324 votes. President Obama, the only Democratic candidate listed in that primary, garnered 388 votes.
A total of 1,299 Republicans and 494 Democrats cast ballots
