Zany ‘Circus of One’ comes to Ocean State Theatre in Warwick

Posted

Physical Theatre artist Linda Peck brings her enthralling, zany “Circus of One” to Ocean State Theatre in Warwick for one show only on Saturday, Feb. 8.

In between interludes with her musical saw, Linda tangles her way into a picture frame, extracts zany props from her suitcase (parasols, fans, rings, boxes) while audiences wonder what she will produce next. Her lighthearted mix of theatre, mime, circus illusion and tightrope walking tells a silent story of human foibles, as she interacts with audience members of all ages and creates a whimsical world of wonder.

For over three decades, Peck has performed for gala celebrations, private parties, Renaissance fairs, masquerade balls, corporate events, living history fairs, centennials and more. She was honored to have had the opportunity to open for both Shari Lewis and The Smothers Brothers and has appeared at numerous venues, including the Flint Youth Theater in Michigan, the Montreal Arts Festival, Lincoln Center, the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, Conn. and the Colorado Renaissance Fair. Her exceptional talent has even taken her to Paris, France and Verona, Italy.

The Boston Globe described Ms. Peck’s performances as “Clever contained zaniness....when she smiles she radiates an innocence, and impish charm reminiscent of Lucille Ball.”

Linda Peck’s talents and infectious good humor are a treat for all ages.

Before and after the performance, families can enjoy drinks and snacks, which will be available for purchase at the theatre’s lobby concession stand.

“Circus of One” with Linda Peck will be presented on Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. The theatre is located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. Single tickets are $10 each with packages of three Family Fun Fest shows or more for $8 per ticket. Discount rates are available for groups of 20 or more by calling 921-1777 x112. Tickets are on sale at the box office Monday through Friday from 12-6 p.m., Saturdays from 12-4:00 p.m. and from 12 noon until curtain time on performance days. Tickets are also available online 24 hours a day at www.OceanStateTheatre.org and via telephone during normal box office hours by calling 921-6800.
