A night for the arts

The arts enable students to display their talents, and that’s what brought hundreds of family members and friends to the Arts and Literacy Night held Thursday at Oakland Beach School. It was the first of the shows in a couple of years said first grade teacher Mary Chisholm, a major organizer of the event, where all of the school’s 405 students get to display either a written or artistic work. A book fair was also held and, adding to the excitement, teachers donated items to make up several raffle baskets. All students were given a free raffle ticket. Parents could buy additional tickets with the funds going for school supplies.

    Dear Mary,

You didn't have to go through all that effort for the benefit of your 405 students, but you did. You're a great teacher and your actions might even attract new students into the Warwick School system.

    Great job!

    Rick
