A wedding tradition

On Jan. 29, Eric Abbott’s 5th grade Religious School class at Temple Sinai participated in a Family Ketubah Workshop. In addition to learning about the significance of the “ketubah,” a document that is considered an integral part of a traditional Jewish marriage, the students and their families created a “family ketubah,” outlining what is most important to their individual family. Later this month, the students will participate a mock wedding as part of their year of learning about Jewish life cycle events. Displaying their family ketuboh from left are: Eric Abbott (teacher) of Warwick, Alex Rosen of Scituate, Angelina Dordal of North Kingstown, Mia Gershon of Cranston, Faith Schulte of Warwick, Rachel Blustein of Cranston, Emma Rosenfield of Cranston, Aurora Rees of Cranston, Ari Stein of Warwick, Daniel Shimberg of East Greenwich, Jared Brennan of Coventry, Geoffrey Downey of Cranston, and Toby Koritsky (Religious School Director) of Cranston.
