Albert D. Desmarais, 84, of Tower Rd., passed away March 5, 2012 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Pauline L. (Paul) Desmarais; they had been married for 60 years. Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Victor and Amanda (Tetreault) Desmarais, he was a lifelong resident of West Warwick. Mr. Desmarais was an electronic test technician for the U.S. Government Naval Underwater Sound System for many years before retiring in 1990. He was a communicant of SS. John and James Parish, a World War II Navy Veteran serving with the Construction Battalion; a member of the NCB Veterans of America Association; West Warwick American Legion Post 2; a HAM radio operator; and a troop leader with Boy Scouts Troop 2 Arctic. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Karen M. Joubert of Cranston and Kim A. Hoppy of Richmond, Va., six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Marie Allegretto, Constance Davis and Victor and Ernest Desmarais. His funeral will be held March 9 at 9 a.m. from Henault-Gallogly Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Washington St., West Warwick. Interment will follow with military honors in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
