Animal Talk Pet of the Week: Sully

Posted

Sully may be special needs but you'd never know it by his happy-go-lucky personality. Sully is blind, but let me tell you that does not stop this boy! He loves adventure, people, life, belly rubs and, of course, treats!

He was an owner turn-in about four years ago and when Sully came to the shelter he did have his sight. This smart, loving boy has had to not only learn what it's like to become blind but to also live in a shelter and now he navigates that place like he can see.

Sully's eyes became painful and required surgery to remove them. He amazes everyone he meets with his determination to live a "normal" life. He is eight years young and he will require an experienced dog owner, maybe even someone who has had some experience with blind dogs. It might be helpful but is not necessary.

This handsome, courageous boy has been waiting four years to find his perfect home, let's not keep him waiting any longer! While the entire staff and volunteers love Sully, it would be their best day ever if Sully could find a loving forever home.

There are some requirements in order to adopt Sully: first and most importantly no other pets, after all he deserves all of your attention. Secondly, a home that is one level or a first floor apartment and older children are fine too.

If you are interested in Sully you can visit him at the North Smithfield Animal Shelter at 281 Quaker Highway North Smithfield, RI during their open adoption hours Monday-Friday 12-2:30 p.m. and Saturday 11:00-2:00 Sunday 9:00-11:00.

Please call the shelter at 401-766-0377 for more information. Please share Sully's story with everyone you know, maybe you will be the one to help him find the perfect forever home he so deserves!
