Armand Butch Parent "Stompin' Bear"


Armand Butch Parent "Stompin' Bear" of Warwick, died July 15, 2012 at Kent County Hospital. He was the devoted partner of Sarah Holmander of Warwick for 11 years.

Born in Warwick, he was the son of the late Russell Parent and the late Deborah Dutilly. Mr. Parent had lived most of his life in West Warwick before moving to Warwick 12 years ago. He was a graduate of West Warwick High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He worked several years for (On) Cherry Semi-Conductor and as a janitor for the Coventry School Dept. He was a sorter for Metal Commodities Inc. in North Kingstown. He was a proud member and cook of the American Indian Federation, Inc. in North Kingstown.

He was the brother of the late Dawn Parent. He is survived by his paternal grandmother Rita Parent; a son, Robert Ellis, two step-sons, Richard and David Parenteau; and two granddaughters, Rikki-Lyn and Abigail Parenteau.

Mr. Parent's funeral was private and was held July 20th from the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home. He had a graveside service which included a Mass of Christian burial, conducted by his uncle, Paul Rajotte, and a Native American burial ceremony offered by Chief Walkingturtle (Arthur Donovan) and Ghostdancer (Darlene Spears). His service was attended by his closest family members and friends. The service was followed by his burial at the Quidnessett Memorial Cemetary in North Kingstown.
