ARTISTS OPEN THEIR DOORS TO SHARE THEIR PROCESS AND ART

Artist Open Studios will happen Saturday, November 4th, 2017 from 10 am - 4 pm.

Artist Open Studios is a time for the public to get a personal glimpse into the studios and lives of local artists featured on this year’s tour. It will take place in the towns of Foster, Glocester, and Scituate, Rhode Island.

AOS, Artist Open Studios, is a FREE family event that offers an opportunity to learn about artists and their studio environments. This year, the AOS is a proud recipient of a Rhode Island State Council award. In addition, a special thanks to the Scituate Library which has joined forces with AOS and has featured our artists’ work throughout the year. It is due to the support of these two organizations and our generous sponsors that we can offer a free event which is open to the public.

Artist Open Studios is a unique experience where artists open their work spaces and people can learn alot about the artist-how they create, the source of their inspiration, and even why they create. Studios range from old renovated barns, to new rustic barns, to customed-designed studios within their homes. You will learn first-hand about the techniques of wheel-thrown pottery, glassblowing, sculpture, watercolor painting, jewelry design, oil painting and photography. You will get to see original artwork being created, observe demonstrations, ask questions directly to the artists, and even try your hand with the art materials. Artwork will also be available for purchase.

This year, among the 11 exceptional artists, we are excited to welcome new artists John Femino; photography and C.W. Roelle; three- dimensional line drawings. Each artist brings their own unique style and personality to this trail of artists. Come and meet them all. Spend a day in the north-west corner of Rhode Island, where creativity blossoms.

Now in our 17th year, many AOS visitors are loyal to the event, returning year after year, visiting their favorite artists and exploring some new favorites. Come explore.
