Thanks to an arrangement reached between the Johnston Sun Rise and the Johnston Historical Society (JHS), a history column focusing on Johnston’s past is planned to begin in the newspaper next month. With more than 20 years of stories in their archives, the JHS is the definitive source for stories about Johnston’s yesteryears. The JHS and Museum, located at 101 Putnam Pike, meets the last Wednesday each month, which is accompanied by a guest speaker. All are welcome to attend free of charge to enjoy their Johnston Museum, as well as to listen to the guest speaker present local history. Those who enjoy their meetings are also welcome to become a member of the JHS for $20 per year for a single membership and $30 for a family membership. For more information about the society, visit www.johnstonhistorical.org.
