Barbara J. (Ryan) Duffy, 95, a long-time resident of Warwick, died on April 4, 2017, in Nashua NH with family by her side. She was the widow of the late James J. Duffy.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Agnes R. (Brady) Ryan. A graduate of Rhode Island College in 1942, she taught at Hillsgrove School for seven years and later was a substitute teacher in Warwick schools from 1978 – 1988. Barbara was a member of the St. Benedict’s Circle Daughters of Isabella for more than 50 years and later a member of the Pontiac Peers for many years.

She is survived by a son, James R. Duffy of Arlington VA, a daughter, Claudia D. Totino and her husband Phil of Hopkinton MA, and a son, Christopher P. Duffy and his wife Sandra of Hooksett NH, and her dearly loved grandchildren: Matt Totino of Carlsbad CA, Lila Totino of Hopkinton MA, and Joseph and Timothy Duffy of Hooksett NH. She is also survived by her brother Joseph A. Ryan and his wife Pauline of East Greenwich, sister Marcella Woodbine of Cranston and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Laurel Carroll.

Barbara will be remembered for her love of family, friends and the many simple pleasures in her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Benedict’s Church, 135 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Interment will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Benedict’s Church.
