Not far from Oakland Beach, a small group of diners have gathered on an early spring morning for a hot breakfast. Some are satisfying their appetites on a platter of fluffy pancakes, dripping with sweet syrup and accompanied by a hefty portion of home fries. Others have gone the more traditional route with eggs, served over-easy with a side of salty bacon. The plates of food keep coming from the kitchen of Beach Café & Pub, a friendly neighborhood café where friends and family alike come to eat, catch up and get reinvigorated for the day.

Owners Dick Moranto and Brenda Esposito have been busy these last few months putting the finishing touches on the newest addition to the café. They are proud to introduce The Beach Room. This sky-blue-painted dining room, complete with a sprawling mural of a sun-washed beach (painted by local artist Robert Ratigan), not only extends the dining area of the café but also provides space for a perfect private function room, hosting up to 40 guests. The Beach Room has its own entrance, restrooms and even arcade games. This room has special significance to Dick and Brenda who have dedicated it to the late Evan Mitchell Baker.

Diners here will find classic breakfast, lunch and dinner fare. The menu at Beach Café is long and varied, beginning with those breakfast favorites as omelets, Eggs Benedict and breakfast sandwiches as well as those mouth-watering pancakes, waffles and French toast. Bacon! Home fries! Baked goods! Imagine this … you can even enjoy a Mimosa from the café’s bar! Beer and wine are also served.

The lunch offerings are also sure to please. Diners indulge their appetites on a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers and crowd-pleasing appetizers such as Stuffies, French fries, onion rings and “Smelts in a Basket”. There are even those ever-popular Hot Wieners, made with seasonings straight from the original Olneyville N.Y. System. Lovers of Fish & Chips will find them here EVERY day!

The late lunch/early dinner options at Beach Café are especially irresistible, from their classic Meatloaf, Chicken Pot Pie and Pork Chops to their ever-changing “Blackboard Specials.” All agree that one of the best things on the menu is the café’s Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich, compliments of Dick Moranto.
