Beatrice “Bea” (Masciovecchio) Montano


Beatrice “Bea” (Masciovecchio) Montano, of Warwick, passed away on May 9, 2012 with her loving family be her side at the home of her daughter, Shirley Vulgamott in Jacksonville, Florida.

She was born in Pianella, Provence of Piscara, Italy to the late Anna and Raphael Masciovecchio. Bea grew up in Hartford, CT one of eight children. She married the late Dominick Montano in 1934 and moved to RI in 1942. They spent 60 happy years together enjoying family and friends. They were truly a match made in heaven. She was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Apponaug for sixty years. She retired from Leviton Manufacturing Co. in 1973. Bea was a gifted seamstress, artist and cook. Many of her creations are all over the country with family and friends. She spent the last ten years living with her daughter Donna Wissler in Warwick and spending winters with her daughter Shirley Vulgamott in Jacksonville, FL.

Besides her husband she was predeceased by her daughter Janice Flanagan; and her siblings: Giselda Salzarulo, Marie Tomassetti, Jean Filip, and Arthur, Anthony, and Rudolph Masciovecchio; Bea is survived by her loving daughters Shirley and Donna, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters. Her life has been an inspiration to all of us and we will carry her spirit with us always.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 am from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 3250 Post Rd., Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday 5-8 p.m.
