Believing in power of education

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to recommend Jennifer Townsend Ahearn for the position of School Committee member for the City of Warwick. I have known Jennifer for the last five years. The first time we interacted tells a great deal about the very essence of my good friend.
On a cold winter morning, my children were outside skating on the ice rink my husband built for them in our yard. Jennifer was jogging past, and in full stride mentioned how much fun the rink must have been for the kids. This memory I have of my dear friend describes the core of her being.
She is an intelligent, capable, dependable, warm, generous woman with many talents and interests. But the thing she holds dearest in her heart is the well being of her children. Her care and concern extends beyond her own, to all of the children in the city of Warwick. I have seen this passion first-hand over the years, as evidenced by the countless hours she has logged helping with the many Cedar Hill School activities and events. She is a PTO executive board member. She has been preparing and giving art lessons during school hours to the students in the volunteer Art Masters program at Cedar Hill. She has led the fundraising efforts to support a sixth grade graduation field trip and celebration of worthy mention. However, academics are of the highest priority to Jennifer.
She encourages the very best from her children, the teachers and administrators of Warwick because she believes in the importance of our future through the education of our youth. Their education. Their well being.
It is for her conviction that I support the election of Jennifer Townsend Ahearn to the Warwick School Committee. Join her Ahearn.
