Beverly E. (Merrill) Carr


Beverly E. (Merrill) Carr, 84, of Warwick passed away on September 13, 2013 at home. She was the wife of the late Richard N. Carr (Late President of Davol, Inc.)

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Manola A. (Tryon) Merrill and granddaughter of the late Edwin and Estella (Peck) Hartley. Mrs. Carr was an Executive Administrative Assistant for Davol, Inc. for 23 years, retiring in 1971. She was Rhode Island Secretary of The Year. She was a Certified Professional Secretary, a member of the Rhode Island and National Secretaries Associations and a V.S.A. Volunteer. An avid golfer, Mrs. Carr was a longtime member of Potowomut Golf Club.

She was the loving aunt of Helen C. Gannon of Cranston. Cherished cousin of Leslie Tryon Fowler of Westerly and Barbara Merrill of Warwick. She is also survived by her beloved friend and caregiver Linda D. Borcuk of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Henry Farrell, Jr.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Gregory The Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 5-8 p.m.
