The Hendricken golf team impressed at the prestigious Palmetto High School Championship in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, over the weekend, falling one shot shy of gaining a spot on the podium in a field of 28 teams with a team score of 298 (plus-10).

Hendricken’s effort was highlighted by senior captain Joey Tucker, who carded rounds of 67 and 68 for a two-round total of minus-7, winning the individual championship by two strokes. There was no one better on the course in the second round, as Tucker recorded seven birdies on the final day of play en route to capturing the title.

Fellow senior Colin Sutyla also had a solid showing, tying for 15th individually. Sean Irons, Luke Pearson and Jack Georgeu scored for Hendricken, as well.

The Hawks will be looking to earn the championship for the third consecutive year at the U.S. Challenge Cup today. Play began Monday with round one at Alpine Country Club in Cranston, and a champion will be crowned at the conclusion of round two this afternoon.
