Biting into a career
One hundred girls between the ages of 13 and 18 who are under state care received a primer in how to look for jobs and what opportunities are in the market Friday at a young women’s career seminar hosted by the Key Program Inc. The young women are under the supervision of Key that runs programs here and in Massachusetts. Among those staffing booths at the event, were a mortgage loan officer, photographer, accountant, teacher’s aide and owner of a beauty salon. The event, the third career seminar, was made possible with the support of the Rodman Ride for Kids. Here, Essence, Song and Tianna talk with Sharon Riley who represented Americorps/Roger Williams Zoo. She is showing the girls a model of a polar bear skull and how wide it can open.
