BORI Graphix moving on up
Gary Paplauskas and his wife Denise opened Balloons Over Rhode Island in their family garage in 1985. Back then they specialized in large rooftop balloons, but even when she was nine months pregnant, Denise would be knocking on doors, delivering balloons with a singing telegram.
More than 25 years later, they are now known as BORI Graphix, and have moved into a new 5,000-square-foot facility on the Warwick-Cranston border.
“The company has come a long way,” said Chris Paplauskas, Denise and Gary’s son. “It’s a humongous step up.”
BORI originally moved out of the garage and into a facility in Central Falls. A few years later, in 1999, they opened up a production facility and storefront on Walnut Grove Avenue in Cranston. They soon outgrew the space, though, and the new office more than doubles their size. The 11 Knight Street office has two loading docks and an overhead door that allows vehicle wraps to be done indoors.
“We would have to actually not do those vehicles before,” Denise said, the rain coming down hard outside her window. “They’d be on hold in this weather.”
BORI provides lawn signs, illuminated signs, banners, air towers, decals, vehicle wraps and balloons.
“It’s all about service here. My dad says, ‘Just say yes.’ You want people to be happy and come back,” Chris said.
The new office can handle all of those production functions, and provides separate space for the graphic designers. BORI handles products from conception to installation with their eight employees. They recently decided to take on two more employees, and are looking to hire an additional graphic designer.
“We’ve been lucky to stay busy during the hard times,” Denise said.
BORI Graphix is located at 11 Knight Street, Building E-18, in Warwick. For more information, call 921-8485, visit BORIGraphix.com or find them at Facebook.com/BORIGraphix.
