Tri-City Elks

Country line dancing continues from 7-9 p.m. Monday evenings with Lori Enos. Cost is $8 per person. Come kick up your heels and have some fun.

Yoga Classes will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. with Lorraine Blanchard as the instructor. This Vinyasa Yoga flow will embody strength, balance and flexibility. Please bring your own yoga mat. Cost is $6 per person.

Meat raffles begin on Feb. 9 from 2-4 p.m. There will be four tables loaded with meat and prizes and also a 50/50 raffle.  Always a great time! Proceeds to be donated to Rosemary's Wish Kids.

Project Undercover Drive

For the month of January 2019, the Ladies of St. Kevin’s Church will be accepting donations of baby wipes, underwear and socks for children ages 7 and under for Project Undercover which will distribute them to families with children in need. Donations can be left in the boxes inside the entrance doors of St. Kevin’s Church on Sandy Lane.

Winter Book Sale

The Friends of the West Warwick Public Library will hold a winter book sale during library hours Jan. 22 through Feb. 2.  Bags will be available for purchase at the circulation desk. Patrons can fill a plastic grocery bag with books for $1 or a “Friends” tote bag for $3. Adult fiction, nonfiction, teen/young adult and oversized books will be offered. The library is located at 1043 Main St.

Meat Raffle

Warwick Municipal  Retirees  Association

The next meeting of the Warwick Municipal  Retirees  Association is Jan. 30 at the Pilgrim Senior Center at 10:30 a.m. They are having a New Years breakfast.  Any concerns or comments contact Lois at 738-1768.

Community Lunch

A community lunch and food pantry will be held Jan. 26 from 11 a.m.-1pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick. Everyone is invited to participate.

Meat Raffle

West Bay Anglers are holding a meat raffle every Saturday through March 16, 2019 at the Warwick Firemen’s Club, 750 Warwick Ave. Doors open at 12 noon, raffle starts at 1:30. Tickets are six for $5.

Fundraiser Yard Sale

The Chorus of Kent County is looking for donations of books, CDs and DVD s for their upcoming scholarship fundraiser yard sale/book sale. One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit Kent County high school seniors looking to pursue a degree in the music arts. Greenwood Choir

The Greenwood Concert Choir seeks members for its spring 2019 season. Our exciting program includes music from Haydn's "Creation" and timeless sacred music exploring the glory of God's creation. Women’s Auxiliary

A women’s auxiliary meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the William Shields Jr. American Legion Post 43, 662 West Shore Road. It is an open invitation to all eligible women who wish to participate in supporting our veterans. Eligibility to join is related to a veteran as a mother, wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, grandmother or step-relative.

Bingo Night

Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company Rental

Walk and Talk at Rocky Point

Walk and Talk at Rocky Point is a free walking group that meets on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. and Thursdays evenings at 4 p.m. They meet at the front gate. They walk at a moderate pace on the paved path that is about two miles. Dogs on leashes and children in strollers are welcome. Cornerstone Church Food Pantry

Pilgrim Senior Center

The Pilgrim Senior Enrichment Center, located at 27 Pilgrim Parkway, offers educational, nutritional and recreational programs to folks 55 years of age and older. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Chess players wanted at the Pilgrim Senior Center. Join in this game of strategy on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in the Billiards Room. They will teach new players, so come give it a try.

Warwick Historical Society

Meadowlark Seniors

Bonniedale Farm in North Scituate offers dog and cat food at no cost to struggling pet owners, hoping to provide for the animals while easing the burden on community members facing tough times. Developmental Screening

The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child’s development and offers information about community resources. Moms for Moms

Support a new mother, share your experience and make a new friend. You can make a difference with just one hour a week. Moms for Moms/Families First RI helps pregnant women and new mothers deal with an enormous transition by matching them with trained volunteers who are mothers themselves. The program provides emotional and social support and strives to connect new moms to resources within their own communities. Mentors develop a warm, supportive relationship while spending time with the new mom in their homes, accompanying them on outings and attending mom gatherings. Volunteers Needed to Sew

Looking for something to do to help foster kids? Organizers of The Sewing Project to Help Foster Kids are looking for volunteers who want to help sew pillowcase or duffel bags for foster children. Currently their belongings are sometimes put in black trash bags. Foster parent Adriane Grimaldi in Scottsdale, Ariz. started the Sewing Project in February 2008 for children taken from their homes by Child Protective Services (CPS) to make kid-friendly bags for carrying their belongings instead of trash bags. To date, people have made 6,700 pillowcase bags for foster kids Pillowcase bags are delivered to CPS to use instead of trash bags. The Sewing Project has opened a new Rhode Island Chapter working with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and is in need of volunteers to sew. Domestic Abuse Support Groups

The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center is a non-profit agency providing services to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. The agency offers morning and evening support groups for adults dealing with current or past domestic abuse Groups provide a safe place to talk with others who have shared similar experiences.
