Art Right Now Exhibit
The Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road, Warwick, is holding the “Art Right Now!” reception Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. The public is invited to a free reception to meet the 15 artists in a new group show of original paintings, watercolors, mixed media designs and 3D works. Three Warwick artists are also included in the exhibit that runs through Aug. 24. “Art Right Now!” is a meet-up group that creates and shares original artwork inspired by themes chosen at monthly meetings. Youth Employment Program
Westbay Community Action’s Education Services in Warwick will offer a summer youth employment program for young people ages 17 to 24. The program, which runs through Aug. 16, will cover work-readiness skills as well as work experience. Participants will work 20 hours a week and earn $7.75 an hour. The focus is environmental science. They will introduce beekeeping, tree stewardship and landscaping; they will not handle live bees. There will be one visit to a hive, and everyone will wear protective gear. Call 468-4065.

Gorton Orientation Nights
Gorton Junior High School will be hosting orientation nights for all incoming 7th grade students Monday, Aug. 19th and/or Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. They will be set up in front of the main office hallway, which is right at the main front entrance of the school. The students will receive their schedules, locker assignments, directions on how to open lockers and maps of the building. With the schedule and map in hand, families can see where the students’ rooms are located. This is a great opportunity for you and your child to take a look at the schedule and locations of the rooms in advance and to ask any questions. You will also be able to hand in the school physical/immunization forms if they are completed. The PTO will be accepting new membership on this evening, and they will have information on school fundraising events.
