Warwick Historical Society

The Warwick Historical Society meets weekly at the John Waterman Arnold House on Roger Williams Circle Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. All are welcome and urged to become member and volunteer. On Friday, June 6, Tri-City Elks will be holding its 2nd Annual D Day Celebration to say thank you to the troops both past and present of all military branches starting at 5 p.m. The hall will be open to all veterans. Good food and plenty of it with live music. There will be a flag pole dedication ceremony to honor the men and women who lost their lives in defense of what this country stands for: freedom. Preschool Registration

The Title I Office for Warwick Public Schools announced that Preschool registration for the 2014/2015 school year has started. The preschool program is fully funded through Title I. The program will run four half days each week with a parent component every other Friday. They are offering a morning or an afternoon session to families. Parents are required to attend every other Friday for informative workshops to support family learning and kindergarten readiness. This program is free of charge and is offered to families living in the Oakland Beach, Hoxsie, Wickes and Norwood areas. Conimicut Village Memorial Bricks

The Conimicut Village Association is still accepting orders for memorial bricks. Bricks can be used to commemorate a life event or to honor a person, living or deceased. The engraved bricks are installed along the walkway at the scenic overlook at the ocean end of Beach Avenue. Divorce Group

The divorce group is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. The sessions are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. There will be a 30- to 40-minute video featuring top experts on divorce and recovery subjects, followed by a discussion and sharing time. Pasta Dinner & Xbox One Raffle

Win an Xbox One and enter the raffle for some spectacular prizes raffle tickets are only $10 each. Drawing for the Xbox One raffle will take place May 30 from 6 p.m. at St. Timothy’s meatball and pasta dinner, which will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 475 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Spring Concert

The West Bay Chorale presents its Spring Concert “It’s A Grand Night for Singing” - Favorites from Broadway Shows, May 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Edgewood Congregational Church, 1788 Broad Street, Cranston. Admission is $10 adults, children under 12 $5.

Free Community Lunch

A free community lunch & food pantry will be held May 31 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick. All are welcome. Please don’t arrive before 11 a.m. RIPTA #3 Warwick Ave – Hoxsie Four Corners stop at West Shore Nursing Home next to St. Mark’s.

Summer Art Camp

Ages 6-12 will have unique ways to explore their creativity this summer at Warwick Museum of Art, 3259 Post Road. New art sessions include comic books, oil pastels, wearable art, and art & poetry in 9 lines. Plus, favorite sessions like acrylic painting, ceramics, drawing and jewelry making will be offered again. St. Benedict Church Spring

Flea Market

St. Benedict Church is having a spring flea market in the parish hall Saturday and Sunday, May 31 and June 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., 70 Transit St. Warwick (handicapped accessible). Many treasures to be found. The kitchen will be open for breakfast at 8 a.m. with coffee and lunch will be served with our special hot wieners, meatball sandwiches, hamburgers and more.

Grief Support Group

Those who are suffering from the loss of a loved one are welcome to come to one or all of the grief support sessions that will be held at the Christ Church Office Condo (61 Cedar Ave., Unit 6, East Greenwich) every Sunday from 2-4 p.m. through June 1. The meetings will begin with a video featuring interviews with leading authors, counselors, speakers and pastors covering a variety of topics to help you deal with your grief, followed by discussion and sharing. Steak Fry

Ocean State Toastmasters

Ocean State Toastmasters will hold its next meeting June 3 from 7-9 p.m. at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road. Ocean State Toastmasters holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The club is one of some 13,500 in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills. The organization has approximately 280,000 members in 116 countries. Ocean State Toastmasters is one of the oldest clubs in Rhode Island. We are a distinguished club. Walking Track Fundraising Breakfast
