Members of the Warwick Police Department held a reception on Friday for Col. Stephen McCartney in celebration of his career in police work and his nearly 20 years as chief of the Warwick Department. McCartney retired Friday. Chiefs from other departments visited including Johnston Police Chief Richard Tamburini and Providence Police Chief Hugh T. Clements and friends, elected officials and department members stopped in to wish McCartney well and thank him for his service to Warwick. (Warwick Beacon photos by Julia Hopkins)
