Calamis in ‘Circle of Stars’ for his philanthropy
Warwick resident Nat Calamis, president and CEO of Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage, Inc., was honored by The Providence Center at their Circle of Stars event Oct. 17 for his philanthropic support in the community. The annual fundraiser and dinner was held at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence to support funds such as The Providence Center’s Coping with Crisis Fund – a fund established to provide mental health to uninsured children and adults in crisis.
“I am thankful and honored to be recognized by The Providence Center at their annual Circle of Stars event. It is very rewarding to be able to give back to the community and make a difference to people in need,” Calamis said.
Calamis’ relationship with The Providence Center grew from a business relationship to a shared belief in the mission to make recovery possible for Rhode Islanders. Since 1999, Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage, Inc. has been a loyal supporter of The Providence Center. Calamis was instrumental in forming the Starkweather & Shepley Charitable Foundation in 2010 and serves as co-chairperson of The Right Charitable Foundation. Calamis has served on The Providence Center’s Annual President’s Cup Golf Tournament committee since 2010 and served as chairperson in 2011.
“We look to Nat for his expertise in insurance solutions, but we also see him as a partner in our mission. Nat understands the needs of organizations like The Providence Center, and he’s dedicated to giving back to the community,” said Dale K. Klatzker, Ph.D., president and CEO of The Providence Center.
Circle of Stars honors individuals and organizations for their philanthropic support of the community. The proceeds from Circle of Stars will support The Providence Center's commitment to meeting the needs of the community through innovative mental health, substance use and integrated care services.
