Charles Samuel Jones, age 94, of Warwick, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Janet (Davis) Jones, his wife of 66 years.

Born in Riverton, New Jersey, June 9, 1923, he was the son of the late Samuel B. and Emma E. (Kipp) Jones. He graduated from the public schools of Marblehead, MA, and enlisted in the United States Army in November 1942, during his second year of college. He served with the 20th Air Force in India and on Tinian in the Marianna Islands. He was a graduate of Nichols Junior College (now Nichols College) and Rhode Island State College (now the University of Rhode Island). He entered the insurance business in 1948, joined the Providence Mutual Fire Insurance Company in 1954, retiring in1989 as President. He served as a Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #1, Gaspee Plateau, Warwick, for seven years; Moderator, Deacon, Treasurer, and Trustee of Spring Green Memorial Church; and a former member of the Turks Head and Hope Clubs of Providence.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Samuel B. Jones and his wife Debra, of Lake Nebagamon, WI, and Dana D. Jones and his wife Sharon, of Howell, NJ; a daughter, Heather J. Lynch and her husband John, of Warwick; seven grandchildren: Martha M. Jones of Bradenton, FL, Evan C. Jones of Wakefield, Thomas A. Lynch of Smithfield, William A. Lynch of Seattle, WA, Dawson A. Jones of Howell, NJ, Robert Ganz-Brown of Superior, WI, and Mikaela Ganz-Brown of Duluth, MN; a great-grandson, Landon Ganz-Brown; and a sister, Patience J. Ericson of Frenchtown, NJ. He was the brother of the late David T.S. Jones and Faith K. Brown.
