Cirque du Soleil: World Apart
We have seen Cirque du Soleil in Vegas, Worcester and Providence and marvel at the skill, daring and showmanship of the circus performers.
If you ever have the opportunity to see one of the many productions live, by all means do it. There is nothing like seeing the show, especially "O,” live. If you cannot, go see the film version, which is a compilation of a half dozen different productions, including "O" and the Beatles Tribute.
The movie includes some interesting camera angles, underwater shots and close-ups but loses a little of the "being there" spontaneity. The background music is haunting and adds to the production.
We follow a young woman in search for a handsome trapeze artist, traveling through a magical world until finally meeting him in a breathless trapeze finale.
It is shown only in 3D, which makes it expensive, but a lot cheaper than the live productions. Rated PG.
